Binaural Entrainment Guide

Binaural beats are an auditory phenomenon created when two slightly different frequencies are delivered separately to each ear through stereo headphones. The brain perceives a third, phantom frequency equal to the difference between the two tones - for example, a 200 Hz tone in the left ear and a 210 Hz tone in the right produces a perceived 10 Hz beat. This phantom frequency is thought to gently guide brainwave activity toward the corresponding frequency band through a process called entrainment.

Each brainwave band carries its own character and set of associations. Delta waves (1–4 Hz) are linked to deep dreamless sleep and physical restoration. Theta waves (4–8 Hz) support deep meditation, creativity, and emotional processing. Alpha waves (8–12 Hz) reflect calm, alert awareness. Beta waves (13–30 Hz) support active focus and analytical thinking. Gamma waves (30+ Hz) are associated with peak cognitive performance and heightened sensory integration.

To experience the full binaural effect, stereo headphones are required - the left and right channels must reach separate ears. Select any frequency to begin and use the volume slider to find a comfortable listening level.

Delta2 Hz

Deep Healing

A 2 Hz delta beat associated with the deepest stages of sleep and profound physical restoration. The brain naturally enters delta states during dreamless sleep, where cellular repair and immune function peak.

Supports deep rest, physical recovery, and restorative sleep.

Theta4 Hz

Meditation Gateway

A 4 Hz theta beat that mirrors the brain state found in deep meditation, light sleep, and hypnagogic creativity. Theta waves are linked to enhanced intuition, emotional processing, and access to subconscious material.

Deepens meditation, promotes insight, and eases emotional processing.

Theta6 Hz

Dream State

A 6 Hz theta beat in the upper range of the theta band, associated with vivid dreaming, imaginative flow, and creative problem-solving. Often experienced during REM sleep and during deeply absorbed creative work.

Encourages creativity, vivid dreaming, and imaginative flow.

Theta-Alpha7.83 Hz

Schumann Resonance

A 7.83 Hz beat matching the fundamental resonant frequency of Earth's electromagnetic cavity, known as the Schumann Resonance. Many practitioners describe it as a grounding frequency that reconnects the nervous system with the natural pulse of the planet.

Grounding, energetic alignment, and connection to Earth's natural frequency.

Alpha10 Hz

Serene Focus

A 10 Hz alpha beat that promotes a calm yet alert awareness - the state of effortless concentration found during light relaxation, gentle creative work, or mindful presence. Alpha is the bridge between waking and dreaming.

Calm alertness, stress reduction, and easy concentration.

Beta14 Hz

Alertness

A 14 Hz low-beta beat that corresponds to relaxed, focused wakefulness. It supports sustained attention during study or light mental work without the edge of higher beta frequencies.

Focused wakefulness and sustained mental engagement.

Beta20 Hz

Cognitive Drive

A 20 Hz mid-beta beat associated with active problem-solving, analytical thinking, and motivated engagement. This range is prominent during goal-oriented tasks and deliberate mental effort.

Active problem-solving, analytical clarity, and mental drive.

Gamma40 Hz

Peak Awareness

A 40 Hz gamma beat linked to peak cognitive performance, heightened sensory integration, and the binding of information across brain regions. Research has associated 40 Hz entrainment with improved working memory and attentional clarity.

Peak awareness, sensory integration, and heightened mental clarity.
